Precision Rifle Match

When: Aug 28, 2016 7:00 AM
Where: Sage Shooting Facility
Cost: $20, $5 for lunch

We’ll have our monthly Precision Rifle Match Aug 28th. Round count will be 40+ depending on how many misses you have. We are going to get in 7-8 stages shooting multiple targets at various distances from 100-500.

If you don’t think you or your rifle are “ready” come out anyways. Everyone is helpful and wants their fellow shooters to do well. These matches are a good time to check your setup to see what works and what doesn’t.

Any questions contact Erik Severson at issacdavis67@hushmail.com or 760-608-1413.

Precision Rifle Match Results

7 Shooters came out today to have some fun in the sun, we got 8 stages in. Ron came up with 3 stages that involved standing and sitting that proved challenging. We also had 2 classes, Sporting and Open. If your rifle weighed under 10 lbs you shot Sporting, if over 10 lb you were in Open class.
There were 215 points max, here are the results with caliber used and class.

1. Erik Severson 152 .223 Sporting
2. Chuck Amento 143 .308 Open
3. Mike Cooper 126 .308 Open
4. Don Finch 120 .308 Sporting
5. John Litzinger 111 .308 Open
6. Ron Frey 104 6BR Sporting
7. Jason Knockaerdt 86 .308 Open

The highlight of the day was Don Finch going 8 for 8 the standing and prone stage at 200 yds with his open sighted M1A, the next best was 6 for 8. Thanks to Ron and everyone else for the help and of course to Katie for bringing lunch to us.

Precision Rifle Match

When: June 26, 2016 7:00 Am
Where: Sage Shooting Facility
Cost: $20, $5 for lunch

We’ll have our monthly Precision Rifle Match June 26th. Round count will be 40+ depending on how many misses you have. We are going to get in 7-8 stages shooting multiple targets at various distances from 100-500. We may even have a moving target.

After talking to Ron this morning we are going to try the match with classes of rifles. There will be two classes, Sporting and Open. If your rifle weighs under 10 lbs you may shoot in the Sporting class, anything over will be Open. If you sign up in Sporting class, your rifle will be weighed without ammo before the match. At weigh in it must be as you will shoot. Example,if you are going to use a bipod, the bipod must be on the rifle at weigh in.

If you don’t think you or your rifle are “ready” come out anyways. Everyone is helpful and wants their fellow shooters to do well. These matches are a good time to check your setup to see what works and what doesn’t.

A lot of good shooting, some equipment issues and a few mental errors made for a fun, challenging and competitive match. Most of the targets were under 2 MOA, some just over 1. 8″ at 600, 10″ at 800, 12″ at 930 for example.

Thanks to Chuck for hosting us and serving an awesome tri tip lunch afterwards. Also to Ron for helping Chuck get everything set up. Chuck and Ron have put in a lot of work to make this a great place to shoot long distance. I have been to a lot of 1000+ yd ranges and none are better than Chuck’s place.
